AWA Moves Multi-Million Dollar GEnx Engine from LAX to UK

Los Angeles, USA – Following the recent acquisition of UAC, American Worldwide Agencies (AWA) has reached a major operational milestone by successfully transporting a high-value GEnx-1B aircraft engine from the United States to the United Kingdom.

The move marks one of the first major projects completed by the combined teams, demonstrating their expanded footprint and specialized capabilities in the aerospace sector.

The Asset: High-Stakes Aerospace Logistics

The cargo in question was a GEnx-1B engine on its stand, an asset valued in the eight-figure range. Handling such equipment requires extreme precision and adherence to strict safety protocols:

  • Weight: Over 20,000 lbs (approx. 9,070 kg).
  • Origin: Major carrier maintenance facility at LAX (Los Angeles).
  • Destination: Specialized engine shop in the UK.
  • Purpose: Critical inspection and repair.

A Comprehensive Technical Scope

AWA’s team managed the end-to-end logistics chain, ensuring the engine remained secure and compliant throughout its journey across the Atlantic. The operation included:

  • Hangar Operations: Direct tarmac pickup and delivery using specialized flatbed equipment with airside access.
  • Technical Securement: Expert engine stand tie-downs to mitigate vibration and movement.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Preparation of Non-DG (Non-Dangerous Goods) documentation and export clearances.
  • Global Distribution: Export via AWA’s neutral wholesale network into the European market.
  • Dedicated AOG Desk: Round the clock coverage with dedicated AOG experts

"Same Team, Bigger Footprint"

The project was executed just days after the closing of the UAC acquisition. For AWA, this serves as a "proof of concept" for their expanded service offerings.

"Not a bad way to break in a new partnership," said Graham Burford, CEO of American Worldwide Agencies. "This move involved the same experienced team our clients trust, but with a bigger combined footprint and even more support for critical moves."

Impact on the Freyt World Community

This successful operation underscores the importance of specialized knowledge in Aerospace & AOG (Aircraft on Ground) logistics. As global supply chains demand faster turnaround times for engine repairs, AWA’s ability to leverage a neutral wholesale network ensures that critical parts reach their destination without delay.
