OCSCL Handling Transit for GCC Countries

By Farhan Mahmood, Logistics Manager, Oriental Commercial & Shipping Company Limited

OCSCL has successfully commenced handling transit shipments for its network partners across GCC countries. Recently, two Asphalt Paver machines were successfully cleared from Jeddah Port and are currently en route to a GCC destination.

Operational Challenges Encountered

During this operation, several operational challenges were encountered, including:

  • • Delay in vessel berthing at Jeddah Port
  • • Delay in receiving the Delivery Order from the shipping line
  • • Customs requirement to transport the Track Asphalt Pavers on separate lowbeds
  • • Shortage of cranes at RSGT Terminal for loading operations
  • • Delay in final customs declaration processing

Operational Response

At every stage of the operation, our team responded swiftly and efficiently to ensure smooth cargo movement.

When Customs refused loading both crawlers on a single lowbed, we urgently arranged an additional lowbed within 5 hours to avoid operational disruption. Likewise, when the terminal could not arrange cranes on time, our team maintained continuous coordination with the loading authorities to expedite the process.

Despite the operational hurdles, our dedicated team worked around the clock, maintaining high alert throughout every phase of the shipment. Through constant follow-up, coordination, and commitment, we successfully overcame each challenge and completed the operation successfully.

Our operations team worked around the clock, maintaining high alert throughout every phase of the shipment. Through persistence, strong coordination, and commitment to operational excellence, OCSCL successfully overcame every challenge and completed the operation efficiently.

OCSCL remains committed to providing reliable, efficient, and seamless logistics solutions for transit cargo across GCC countries.
